Afghanistan to play India in the interim between Bangladesh tour BCB official
BCB Cricket Operation Chairman Jalal Yunus announced on the 11th of May (May 11) that Afghanistan will play the series in India in the midst of the Bangladesh tour. Afghanistan will travel to Bangladesh for three ODIs, two Tests, and three T20Is later in the month.
Recently, it was announced that a Test was removed from the schedule. The most recent development is one T20I now being scrapped too. Yunus reported to journalists on the Thursday of England that ACB asked to play a single test. They will then relocate to India for one game before returning to Bangladesh for the final fixtures of the series.
"We have played two Tests in Afghanistan however we have omitted one Test from the series and the next time we'll play one Test in addition to three T20Is, and two ODIs and this is the schedule. We are currently in talks about Afghanistan Cricket Board. The venue will be decided within two to three working days, the Afghanistan Cricket Board has confirmed.
They planned to travel to India after playing one match. During the Eid ul Adha series, they will make sure to reach India as per the schedule, just after playing one test match. And later on, they will be back in Bangladesh to participate in the remaining cricket competition. While the ACB seems very excited to play on Indian soil, after the end of the Indian tour, they will plan things according to the start of the new series and also as per their requirements. We have acknowledged their request, but at this moment there will be the Eid ul Adha break, and due to that reason, we have not made any reservations, said the Chairman.
Cricbuzz reports that the one-off Test will be played from June 10 and 19 prior to the team's departure to India to play a white ball series. Afghanistan is on its way to Sri Lanka to play in the 50-over league in three matches before the start of the Bangladesh tour.
